FAQ

Great habits can prevent many of the most common dental problems. We are happy to help you create a personal plan for oral health based on your specific needs.

Cleanings

Paired with a good oral health routine at home, regular cleanings help maintain healthy teeth and gums.

We know that gums can be sensitive. Our hygienists Karen and Courtney provide thorough cleanings with care, and are ready to answer your questions about good habits for great oral hygiene.

Arestin

A localized antibiotic placed in gum pockets to treat periodontitis, which is the shrinkage of gums and resulting loosening of teeth caused by inflammation of the gum tissue around the teeth.

Arestin application is a painless and quick procedure that produces great results.

Fillings

Fillings are applied to decayed or structurally damaged teeth to repair cavities, fractures, or extreme wear produced by grinding or similar habits. Fillings can be made from a variety of materials. Our practice typically uses composite resin as we have found these fillings to be strong, durable, and beautiful.

Crowns

Crowns are caps that cover a tooth when the structure of the tooth has been compromised. They can be made of porcelain, zirconia (white metal) or gold.

Crowning a tooth helps prevent fractures and additional damage.

Bridges

A bridge is a permanent prosthesis that replaces missing teeth. Crowns are applied to the teeth on either side of the gap to hold the bridge in place, with porcelain or gold teeth filling in the space between.

Bridges help maintain the correct spacing of the other teeth, and help restore regular bite and chewing abilities.

Full and Partial Dentures

Missing teeth can also be replaced with a partial or full denture depending on how many teeth are present.

These prostheses are removable, meaning you take them out when needed, for cleaning and sleeping.

Extractions

A tooth may need to be removed for a number of reasons. In some cases, teeth may have been damaged beyond repair, or infection may make removal the healthiest option.

In other cases, such as with wisdom teeth, they are commonly removed in the course of standard preventative care.

We perform extractions, including simple wisdom tooth removal, when we determine that they are the healthiest option. For complex extractions, we may refer you to a trusted oral surgeon.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is an option for saving a tooth that has bacteria in the nerve and is structurally sound enough to be restored. We do most root canals and may refer more complex cases to a trusted specialist.
